Killiecrankie

The Pass of Killiecrankie is situated in Perthshire just 3 miles north of Pitlochry, and is infamous throughout Scotland as the place where the first Jacobite Uprising happened. Under the leadership of Bonnie Dundee, also known as Viscount Claverhouse, the Jacobites won their first battle against the Red Coats in a legendary battle during 1689. However today it is a beautiful and peaceful spot which people visit to admire the views as well as to learn about the history.

With paths winding along the banks of the River Garry taking you to viewpoints such as Soldiers leap, where one of the Government soldiers flung himself to safety, it's a great place to explore on foot. Native trees and wildlife can be seen and heard in the area with the dark peat tinted waters swirling below.
