Plockton
Plockton is a small village by the shores of Loch Kishorn and Loch Carron, founded when the fishing industry was growing. With palm trees and local pubs framing the yachting harbour and spectacular views towards Creag nan Darach which dominates the skyline, it's a perfect spot for to spend an evening relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.
For those wanting to explore more of the local area there are walks out to Duncraig castle as well as to a couple of view points where mountains meet the sea and you can hear seals barking the distance.
The local community is thriving in the area with traditional music nights in several of the pubs as well as the local football team playing passionate games against other local teams. Shinty is also still played with some fierce local rivalries.
For TV fans, Plockton is where Hamish MacBeth was filmed and is home to the real James Bond, Patrick Dalzell-Job.
Driving into Plockton can be a lengthy task with single track roads winding round the hills and highland cattle wandering across the roads bringing local traffic to a standstill.
