A Typical Day

Your day will start approx between 8am and 10am (depending on time of year and tour – arranged with driver day by day) – after a bit of breakfast (help yourself) to fire you up for an active day.

An average day will have a healthy mixture of walking, sight seeing, history hearing and legend learning; stand on top of a mountain, swim in a loch, walk through a glen, hear of warriors and faeries, swig whisky in the heather... follow the path of many of Scotland’s historical figures and legendary spirits.

With us you will get all the highlights you have heard of and mentioned in the itineraries – but much, much more - we pride ourselves on being as flexible as possible with regards to the mix of people on the tour and the infamous changing weather. We are aware that not everyone's needs can be completely met but we will try our hardest – and if you are an adventurous, "who cares if we get wet", sociable, up for it character – then the chances are you will be thrilled around every corner!

Lunchtimes are ideally spent outside having picnics (its cheaper for you and there is plenty of time to go to pubs in the evening !) to make the most of the day – but if it rains there is always the option of eating inside if the group decides they would prefer it.

After your day you will get to the hostel/bunkhouse/castle/blackhouse anywhere between 6pm and 8pm.

Dinner time will be planned on a day to day basis – there will be lots of it and it will be healthy (we don’t fry everything up here!) – The group chooses what they would like and the guide coordinates it – it can range from Spag Bol – Sausage and mash – seafood (if we catch the fisherman on time!) – to Barbecues – Haggis (veggies and other dietary requirements are catered for). Everyone helps with the cooking and with the tidying up – no princesses! (ps this is NOT the tour guides job)

For groups that stay in Stromeferry the food is cooked for us so we just turn up, eat up, wash up then clean up!

After dinner – the evening is your own – the guide will often be around to take you to the local pub, hunt out any live music etc – or head out with the group on your own – there are often walks in the area to do – which is to be taken advantage of during the long summer months.

Then fall into bed having made the most of your day and get some sleep for the next adventure...
